Customer from the Philippines recently visited GNEE and production base to evaluate a custom order of SA179 finned tubes for a heat-transfer project. The visit centered on confirming GNEE's ability to supply made-to-spec tubes and to meet the delivery schedule.
SA179 (ASTM A179 / ASME SA179) is a seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tube specified for heat exchangers and condensers, with a minimum tensile strength of 325 MPa and a hardness cap of 72 HRB. Because the project required fins added to the base tube to enlarge the heat-transfer surface — with fin type, geometry, and material selected for the actual duty — the order fell outside standard stock. Kayla, GNEE's sales engineer, handled the early contact and confirmed the custom parameters with the client by email ahead of the visit.

During the visit, Kayla received the delegation and led a technical session on the customization scope — base tube grade and dimensions, fin configuration (such as high-frequency welded helical fins or extruded fins, fin height and pitch, and fin material), tolerances, and inspection requirements. The team then toured the plant, reviewing the cold-drawing and finning lines, quality controls (hydrostatic, eddy-current, hardness, flare and flattening tests), and GNEE's export packaging, lead time, and documentation.
The client acknowledged GNEE's capability to deliver made-to-spec finned tubes, and the two sides agreed to finalize the technical drawing and move toward sample approval and the first order. SA179 finned tubes are common in power, HVAC, and industrial process cooling applications.
